The Story So Far...

Greenpark Productions Limited (Greenpark) was incorporated in Polperro, Cornwall, in 1938 by the British author and scriptwriter, Walter Greenwood, whose credits included the book and feature film, "Love on the Dole", and his accountant, Mr. Park.

According to its Memorandum and Articles of Association the company was, amongst other things (!) established to "Carry on the Business of Producers and Promoters of Electric Cinematograph Pictures, Picture Theatres, Music Halls, Stage Plays, Operas, Operettas, Burlesque, Vaudevilles, Ballets, Pantomimes, Revues, Concerts, Spectacular Pieces and Bioscopic Pictures". Wow
The operations of Greenpark were relocated from Polperro to London in 1939 and Walter Greenwood developed the company during the Second World War as a producer of corporate and government films, which work it continued for almost the next fifty years. During this time many well known writers and directors worked with Greenpark, including Laurie Lee, Dylan Thomas, H E Bates and John Grierson.
From its early days Greenpark was a member of the small group of companies that made up the Film Producers Guild which were involved in setting the standard and style of British documentary film production that was adopted throughout the British Commonwealth.
Greenpark continued producing informational and corporate films for blue chip clients into the 1970s during which time, as other members of the Film Producers Guild went out of business, Greenpark took over their archives. In 1977 the company was acquired by David Morphet, an award winning British documentary film producer/director/writer, who continued to produce corporate films and videos and television documentaries until shortly before his death in 1997.
As a result of its rich creative history Greenpark has an archive of several million feet, including what is reputedly one of the best intact audiovisual footage archives of British social history covering the 1940s - 1970s, as well as numerous other subjects relating to the UK and other countries around the world. This archive is now being marketed as Greenpark Images.
